Information You Submit
A third-party provider receives the name, phone number, or address entered in a search form. Our servers do not retain those search terms. A message sent to us is used only to respond to what the sender asked.
Automatic Technical Data
Standard hosting logs may record an IP address, browser type, viewed pages, and timestamps. Aggregated logs help diagnose faults and measure page use. Basic analytics and advertising measurement may rely on cookies or similar tools.
How Data Is Used
Technical data supports site operation, error repair, traffic counts, and page improvements. Visitor lists are not sold, and individual user profiles are not created.
Links to Other Websites
We link out to county and state records portals, library collections, archives, and third-party search tools. Their privacy policies, not ours, govern what you submit there. That is especially true of the sponsored search results, which a third-party company provides.
Who Might See Your Data
The service providers that host and support the site process server logs for us. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. We disclose data when a valid legal process requires it, and not otherwise.
How We Protect Your Data
The site runs over an encrypted connection and logs are kept only as long as the purposes above need them. There are no accounts here, so no password or profile of yours exists on this site to be exposed.
Users Under 18
The site is meant for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18; if you believe a minor has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your Privacy Choices
Rights to access, correct, or delete site-held personal data depend on applicable law. Illinois's Personal Information Protection Act, 815 ILCS 530, addresses safeguards and breach notice; it is not a general right to erase public records. A broader consumer privacy proposal was still pending when the project research was completed and is not stated here as current law. Because very little data is kept, a request generally involves checking contact mail and available logs. Use the Contact page to ask. Records held by Illinois, county, or Village offices remain under the custodian's control, so correction or removal requests must go there.
Updates to This Policy
Any change to this policy will be posted on this page. Using the site after a change means you accept the updated version.
